Statement of Quality Policy of the Department of Home Economics and Ecology

The Department of Home Economics and Ecology is committed to implementing a quality policy that will support the academic profile and orientation of the curriculum, promote its academic objectives and subject, implement its strategic goals, and determine the means and ways of achieving them, apply the appropriate quality procedures, with the ultimate aim of constantly improving the Department. In particular, for the implementation of this policy, the Department of Home Economics and Ecology is committed to applying quality procedures related to:

  1. The adequacy of the structure and organization of the curriculum.

  2. The pursuit of learning outcomes and qualifications in accordance with the European and National Competence Framework for Higher Education.

  3. The development of the quality and effectiveness of the teaching procedures.

  4. The suitability of the qualifications of the teaching staff.

  5. The development of the quality and quantity of the research work of the members of the academic unit.

  6. The ways of linking teaching to research.

  7. The level of demand for graduates' qualifications in the labor market.

  8. The quality of support services such as administrative services, libraries and student care services.

  9. The annual review and internal review of the quality assurance system of the Undergraduate Studies’ Program and the cooperation of the Internal Evaluation Group (OM.E.A., in Greek) with the University’s Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP, in Greek)

 

Objectives and Actions for Assuring the Quality Policy of the Department of Home Economics and Ecology

The Quality Assurance Policy of the Department is structured around the following axes of action, which are in harmony with the objectives of the Department as reflected in its Strategic Planning as well as in the University Strategy:

  1. Maintaining and strengthening the academic profile and mission of the Department, as well as the orientation and organization of its curriculum.

  2. Pursuing learning outcomes in line with the European and National Competence Framework for Higher Education.

  3. Promoting the quality and effectiveness of the educational work.

  4. Further improving the research activity taking place in the Department.

  5. Strengthening the extroversion of the Department.

  6. Further improving the administrative, educational and advisory services provided to students.

  7. Developing support services for students with special educational needs.

  8. Adapting studies to labor market requirements.

  9. Continuous training of teachers on issues related to the contemporary methods of teaching and supervising research work.

  10. Promoting excellence in teaching and research.

 

The Administration of the Department is committed to the implementation, monitoring and, if necessary, revision of its Quality Assurance System for the purpose of its continuous improvement. It recognizes and announces to each member of the academic community his/her contribution to the achievement of the University's and the Department's objectives. The Quality Policy of the Department, each member’s academic performance, as determined on the basis of specific indicators, as well as the results of their evaluations will be made available to interested parties in an appropriate manner.
